Terms
Last changed 5 October 2026.
What you agree to when you use fency.events, whether you run a competition on it, referee at one or look at its results.
Who we are
Fency is run by Bothy Systems Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number 17495204. “We” and “us” mean Bothy Systems Ltd. You can reach us at [email protected].
What fency.events is
fency.events runs a fencing competition on the day: its entries, pools, direct elimination and results, on the organisers’ laptops and the referees’ phones, and published for anyone the organiser shares them with. It is free to use.
Your account
- You sign in with a link we email you. Keep your email account safe: whoever can read it can sign in.
- Give us true details, and tell us if they change.
- You must be 18 or over to hold an account.
If you run a competition
- You must have the say-so of whoever is holding it to run it here.
- The fencers you enter, and what you publish about them, are yours to answer for. Enter only people who have entered your competition, and tell them their results will be published. Withhold a name when a fencer or their parent asks.
- Add as a referee or an organiser only someone who has agreed to be one: we email them to say so.
- The competition’s rules, its safety, its safeguarding and its duties to its governing body remain yours. fency.events keeps the score. It doesn’t decide a bout.
What you mustn’t do
- Use fency.events for anything unlawful, or to send email to people who haven’t agreed to it.
- Enter details about people that are false, or that you have no right to share.
- Try to get at competitions or accounts that aren’t yours, or to stop the service working.
We may suspend an account or remove a competition that breaks these terms.
The service
We work to keep fency.events running on the day, and it is built to carry on through a dropped connection. But we provide it as it is, and can’t promise it will never fail: keep your own copy of the results (every event can be downloaded) and have paper to hand. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses that follow from a fault in the service. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.
Your details
What we hold, and what is published, is set out in Privacy.
Changes, and the law
If we change these terms we’ll change the date above, and tell organisers by email if it matters to a competition they are running. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
